The Way Of The Superior Man: A Spiritual Guide to Mastering the Challenges of Woman, Work, and Sexual Desire

David Deida
ISBN: 1591792576, Paperback - 11.67 BUY

"The Way of the Superior Man" is a revolutionary new look at the challenges facing the contemporary male. David Deida encourages men to live a full life and to find their deepest purpose so they can give their deepest gifts to the world. After reading this book your view of the world might change. You will hear new meanings in songs, view your sexual relationship with much more insight and start to unravel the tangled web of life. Suddenly spirituality and sexuality merge into an ecstatic experience. This is more about living the poetic life than being trapped and tangled in a web of your own making. It is about breaking free and overcoming the challenges of human existence. This book mainly focuses on how men deal with their career/life purpose and women. As a woman, you might be surprised when you discover which one men find to be the most important. If you are a woman, presently living with a man who has lost his "deepest purpose," then this book will explain why a man's view of his "purpose" can make life heaven or hell. After reading this book you will see why it is of ultimate importance even in an unpredictable world. I agree with the author completely on this issue. A man cannot love a woman fully unless he is happy with who he is and where he is going. If you are a man living with a woman who is not filled with sexual energy and vitality and who seems depressed, edgy and not that interested in sex, then this book gives insight into the mysteries of a woman's heart and soul. It explains what turns a woman on in the depths of her being and how a man can take her into the realm of sexual ecstasy. Not only does David Deida unravel the mysteries of women, he has a profound and ancient knowledge of how men function on their deepest levels. He answers so many questions, I truly felt more enlightened in regards to relationship and life issues. What is a man's highest priority? When should you start to enjoy your life? Is the time now? Are you willing to do what it takes to stay on the edge? How can fear become your friend? Why you should allow yourself time to discover "the unknowing." How a period of unknowingness can lead to knowing your purpose. What makes a man more attractive to a woman? Why do women love it when a man takes charge on a date? Why do women refuse to surrender? What does surrender really mean? Is she just a woman to you? Or do you want to change her? David talks about not changing a woman, but loving her. This is so true. I also believe a woman is like a flower who can be encouraged to bloom more fully under the care of a loving man. Whether than means he has to use humor or spend more time during sex, it all counts. I can imagine David Deida singing: "She's Always a Woman to Me" although I think he'd change the words because he seems to know the secrets to getting back to the garden of Eden. Women want a man who is sensitive, spontaneous and spiritually alive. A man who can lead a woman into deep intimacy is unimaginably sexy. If the man she is with is not helping a her to "bloom," she will either wither, find inner strength or find another man to lead her to sexual ecstasy. I do think some of his explanations about sex border on "orgasm as a tool to attaining enlightenment." The type of sex he seems to be talking about is "sacred sex" and is superior to ordinary sex because he describes men achieving an almost oneness with God through having sex with a woman. This seems to be more in line with "Tantra" which has its roots in Tibetan Buddhist spirituality. While ordinary sex is more mechanical and still pleasurable, he is talking about a rapturous spiritual experience in which the body, mind, heart and soul experience bliss. It is called "divine ecstasy" where the boundaries and ego dissolve. Tantric Sex includes long periods of total devotion and could involve sacred rituals, so you may or may not wish to participate in the more "spiritual" aspects depending on you religion. You almost need to go away for the weekend to find the time. So, when David talks about spending three hours with your lover, he isn't kidding. While many philosophies focus on the denial of our senses, this book encourages the full engagement of all the senses. There is an awareness of Tantric Sex, but no deep explanations. David Deida does show a deep understanding of Tantra in general as he seems to embrace life with a deep spiritual understanding and seems to see living as an ancient art in which you live in harmony with existence. I think the main goal in this book is to encourage men to see that they can control their lives and that in fact, women want them to be in control. Confidence is of course very sexy. This book is especially for men with a masculine sexual essence who want to deepen their life experience with a lover who has a very feminine sexual essence. I have found all of David Deida's books to be intellectually appealing and also sexy on a primal level. I think you can decide what you want to add to your life and there is so much truth in regards to the male/female interaction as a dance or a game. Love becomes the ultimate pleasure. Life becomes a path into an open sky. Dear Lover: A Woman's Guide To Men, Sex, And Love's Deepest Bliss

David Deida
ISBN: 1591792606, Paperback - $11.02 BUY

I know your heart holds the shape of the man who has loved you most profoundly, and I want to love you so deep that your heart is shaped by divine love's yearning, opening wider than the entire universe. ~David Deida It is difficult to express in mere words what David Deida's "Dear Lover" means to me even after the third reading. His writing is deeply poetic, spiritual and speaks directly to the heart of all women who have known the pain and pleasure of love. In lyrical and loving words, David describes a man's deepest desires mingling with the longings of a woman. The style of Dear Lover is very appealing and the beginning of each chapter is almost blissful as you read the desires of a man speaking about his need to open you to God through a romantic and spiritual union. The beauty is stunning and inevitably my pillow is wet with tears as I read and read, wishing this is what all men feel in their deepest heart. These are not just letters from a man who is communicating with his deepest being, they are letters to give insight into the nature of a man. What are his true desires, loves, pleasures? Through these letters women will become interested in reading further into each chapter to discover the secrets of love. The chapter on "How to Stay Open" gives practical advice so you can grow spiritually even when your emotions are fiery and intense. These ideas will take loving to often unexplored levels. Even crying can be sexy in the right situation. Dear Lover is David's most delicious book. I love reading his work time after time and each reading presents fresh insight into life, love and relationships. Of all the relationships books I've read in the past few years, David knows what women want and he explores our longings in a sensuous gift of poetic expression. He is not just listening, he is fully experiencing the feminine essence on a deep level, while still retaining all the desires of the masculine essence. Through some of the most beautiful writing I've ever read, David explains how a woman wants to give and receive love fully. It is our hearts true desire to find a man who is spiritually sexy and a partner in a Third Stage relationship. Women will want to read this book to know themselves more intimately through the heart of a man, who understands women's deepest longings. ~TheRebeccaReview.com

Sondra Ray, founder of Loving Relationships Training "A very deep exploration of the ingredients required to evolve a soul more quickly...I love this book and highly recommend it."

Artist and writer Temple-Thurston!s experience was archetypal: in a blinding flash of insight, she perceived unity consciousness that reconciled art and science, male and female, logic and intuition. The text that has resulted from that insight and later experience explains her views on the reconciliation of apparent opposites, offering suggestions and exercises for achieving unity and balance. The writing is calm and clear, and should be welcome to many spiritual seekers.

Life, Paint and Passion

Michele Cassou
ISBN: 0874778107, paperback - BUY

This is the best book I have read on what it means to truly enter into the creative process. Although painting is the medium talked about, this is for anyone who is interested in getting in touch with their own creativity, whether you have never painted, or if you are an accomplished artist. I was inspired by the examples of how to go beyond opinion to get to what is authentic and true. One of my favorite quotes from the book is "Beauty is in the honest gesture." I love this book and have given it to friends.

A People's History of the United States : 1492-Present

Howard Zinn
ISBN: 0060528370, Paperback - BUY

A People's History of the United States turns traditional textbook history on its head. Howard Zinn infuses the often-submerged voices of blacks, women, American Indians, war resisters, and poor laborers of all nationalities into this thorough narrative that spans American history from Christopher Columbus's arrival to an afterword on the Clinton presidency. Addressing his trademark reversals of perspective, Zinn--a teacher, historian, and social activist for more than 20 years--explains, "My point is not that we must, in telling history, accuse, judge, condemn Columbus in absentia. It is too late for that; it would be a useless scholarly exercise in morality. But the easy acceptance of atrocities as a deplorable but necessary price to pay for progress (Hiroshima and Vietnam, to save Western civilization; Kronstadt and Hungary, to save socialism; nuclear proliferation, to save us all)--that is still with us. One reason these atrocities are still with us is that we have learned to bury them in a mass of other facts, as radioactive wastes are buried in containers in the earth." If your last experience of American history was brought to you by junior high school textbooks--or even if you're a specialist--get ready for the other side of stories you may not even have heard. With its vivid descriptions of rarely noted events, A People's History of the United States is required reading for anyone who wants to take a fresh look at the rich, rocky history of America.

The Lama's Chants

Lama Gyurme, Jean-Philippe Rykiel
ISBN: B0007X9UEC, CD - BUY

Marking the 10th year since this popular Buddhist chant album was first released, this reissue ups the ante by featuring an expanded format. The first disc is a re-mastered version of the original album. The second features unreleased live performances by Gyurme and keyboardists Rykiel and Loy Ehrlich between 1995 and 2001, and it's this second disc that is truly intriguing. Recorded in caves, cathedrals, concert halls and open air festivals, the quality of the recordings is excellent. Mostly chanting and occasionally doing some long tones, Gyurme's voice again seemingly embodies a mix of the human and the holy during his prayers for healing, purification, liberation and peace--he's particularly spectacular on his solo intro to "The Mantra Of Padmasambhaval." Musically, Ehrlich seamless fills out Rykiel's ambient backgrounds, and two do a fine job accentuating the drama and majesty of Gyurme's voice, only overpowering it on the opening "Sacred Words Of Liberation." This is definitely a reissue that deserves to replace the original.

Journey To Ixtlan

Carlos Castaneda
ISBN: 0671732463, Paperback - BUY

This volume shows the reader the means by which a "man of power" sees, as opposed to merely looking, and how by his concentrated "seeing" he can, indeed must, "stop the world." In it, Carlos Castaneda describes the lessons, the omens, the exercises of the will and body, the arduous trials and tests, the simple yet mysterious demonstrations, the extraordinary visions and experiences by which don Juan, his mentor and friend, prepares him for the task of perceiving things as they are, instead of describing them by the words, conventions and standards of conventional, a priori ideas and language. Here, in the high mountains and in the bright arid desert, Castaneda reaches for power in a series of startling encounters with the unknown--a confrontation with death and the past in the form of an albino falcon, with the twilight wind, with a flesh-and-blood mountain lion, with a mountain fog--and learns the techniques, the concentration, the compassion of the hunter, the man who is "without routines, free, fluid."

Tales of Power

Tibet's Great Yogi Milarepa: A Biography from the Tibetan

W. Y. Evans-Wentz
ISBN: 0766167240, Paperback - BUY

This is the second book in the Tibetan series from W.Y.Evans-Wentz. If you really want to begin at the start then you should first of all read - The Tibetan Book of the Dead by the same author. Milarepa is essentially the 800 year old story of Tibets greatist yogi told through the eyes of his students Jetsun and Rechung. The story is about a poor wicked boy who eventually turns into a wise old yogi to be held in the highest esteem. It is a wonderful story that can be read as a standalone book or as part of the series. The most important aspect of this book is that it Milarepa, as a student of Buddhism, needs to practice and cover much of the topics that are explained in The Tibetan Book of the Dead. This is really what is at the heart of the book. So those of you who may want to learn more about The Tibetan Book of the Dead (and you should because it is one of the most important works ever obtained by occident man), can see it put into practice in the story of Milarepa. There are many footnotes and references for you to read through. Again the story is a wonderful, uplifting one with lots of joy and sorrow to experience. You will certainly gain much metaphysical insight and the morals in this story when put into practice will certainly make you a better person. It is a wonderful journey and I have read the story many times and will read it many more. It really is that spiritually enlightening and certainly a very important text to be translated in English for the occident. This book is a treasure-house of spiritual information. The other two works in the series are - Tibetan Yoga and Secret Doctrines and The Tibetan Book of the Great Liberation in that order.

Ngaio Gamelan

David Parsons
ISBN: B00000J8MV, CD - BUY

David Parsons lives upto his expecations. He joins the ranks of othe New Age Wizards like Anugama, Dueter and others. We have to commend him for his skilful handling of the east-east fusion. The perfect use of native instruments has enhanced its ambience and brings out the natural beauty associated with the sounds unique to those instruments e.g the "Sarangi". In "Tjampuhan", every note falls rightly into a another note forming a spiraling continuum. I really got addicted to this particular piece and listen to it every morning. A refreshing music for relaxation especially in the mornings. Though I will exploring some of his other works, I strongly recommend this CD to anyone interested in ambient music.

I listen while meditating, facilitating healing sessions and while "working".

Bach: The Cello Suites Inspired By Bach, From The Six-Part Film Series / Yo-Yo Ma

Yo Yo Ma
ISBN: B0000029YB, CD - BUY

Bach's suites for cello are a must for any music lover. Like all of Bach's music it has an enlightening quality and Ma's performance of these suites is simply stunning. He throws the stylistic dogma that bitterly divides people out the window and shares his feelings about the music with us. Many people who have reviewed this set have complained about a lack of rhythmic drive and thrust in some suites, but I don't think that Ma is being slack about rhythm at all. I feel that this set is the most spiritual performance I have ever heard (and believe me, I've heard most of the available recordings), and in some suites (No.1, 2, 5 especially) Ma's playing has an inner quality that just transcends all possible musical dogmas and just lets the music be itself - one must remember that Bach was a deeply religious man and it shows in all of his works, and this religious spirituality is what I feel in this performance. Also, some people have complained about the over-romanticising of the suites. But music is not about stylistic correctness, it is about true emotion and Ma is a true comminucator of these emotions. Just because Bach lived in the 17th century, it doesn't mean that he didn't have feelings like people now. Ma's playing completely structured (something that was lacking in his first recording of the suites), and because it is so firmly grounded, he can take liberties which do justice to the music more than an injustice. If it was just passionate all-the-way-through, you would have a very messy performance, but thanks to Ma's intelligence equalled with passion, one can really listen to the music and be transported by it. This is truly music that you have to close your eyes to listen to, because it is so pictorial. Great musicians have this thing in common - they can make the music breathe and tell a story, and Yo-Yo Ma is one of them. He doesn't let his ego get in the way of the music, but his mastery of the instrument and Bach's eternal music really tells a pictorial story and it is something to really savour. Gloria in excelsis deo!
